Kandy, the most famous tourist attracted town in the country, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka is a major tourist destination (465 meters above sea level). Famous for the Temple of the Tooth and many other temples the city could be called the cultural capital of the island.
Was the last capital of the ancient kings’ era of Sri Lanka. Now it is the second-largest city of the island and the capital of Central Province of modern Sri Lanka. The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea, one of the most scenic cities in Sri Lanka.
Kandy town is built around a splendid lake. It is a mirror image of the harmony and multiplicity of the people and culture of Sri Lanka. You can take a stroll around the lake or sit and relax on one of the lakeside seats. There are lots of good views of the lake from the hills surrounding Kandy.
